About Neuro-Reach
At Neuro-Reach, we aim to build a community of neuroscience- educated youth, through outreach, advocacy, and research

Outreach
We bring Alzheimer's screening and seizure education directly to underserved neighborhoods, churches, senior centers, and schools—empowering individuals of all backgrounds to recognize signs of neurological distress and respond with confidence.

Advocacy
Our advocacy efforts focus on increasing awareness of epilepsy and Alzheimer’s across Texas. Through workshops, school campaigns, and media outreach, Neuro-Reach youth amplify underrepresented voices and push for inclusive neurological health policies across the state.

Research
Neuro-Reach youth lead grassroots research in underserved communities and across diverse cultural groups. Whether it's surveying memory health in immigrant populations or testing tools in multilingual settings, our teen-led model centers culturally sensitive, community-based neuroscience.
At Neuro-Reach, we believe neurological education is a human right — not a privilege.
We exist to empower youth as changemakers, bridging the gap between science and society through compassion, outreach, and action.
Our mission is to build a world where every child understands the brain, and every elder is seen, supported, and protected.
Our Vision

What We Do
🧠 Alzheimer’s Awareness Workshops
We host free workshops at churches across Houston to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Led by high school volunteers trained in cognitive screening, these workshops offer seniors simple, scientifically backed verbal tests to detect early signs of memory loss and cognitive decline:
-
SLUMS Test – Screens for mild neurocognitive disorders with precision.
-
Mini-Cog – A quick and reliable test combining recall and clock drawing.
-
MoCA – Ideal for identifying mild cognitive impairment early on.
-
MMSE – A comprehensive cognitive health check.
⚡ Youth Epilepsy Education
On the other end of the age spectrum, we deliver interactive Zoom lessons for elementary and middle schools. These sessions teach students:
-
What epilepsy is and how the brain works
-
How to recognize a seizure
-
What to do — and what not to do — if a friend has one
Our goal is to demystify brain health from a young age, reduce stigma, and create future generations of informed, compassionate responders.
